This painting was inspired by the beauty of Gros Morne National Park in Newfoundland, Canada.
Sammy is a fascinating character whom I met while driving north from Wesleyville, Newfoundland up to Twillingate. He had designed his whole property with lawn ornaments. I had never seen anything like it. He said that was what he was doing with his retirement years. I hope he is well..
“Sammy, Lumsden” will be auctioned off at a gala auction in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario in the spring of 2013. Proceeds go to help the Ontario Finnish Resthome Association. I was pleased to be able to help this association out by donating this painting 🙂
This portrait is of Bonnie, a Parks Canada guide working at Lobster Head Cove in the heart of Gros Morne National Park. She was so kind to pose for me.
