Heeding the Call Of The Yukon…

Hello friends!

I hope you are well. Here is an exciting bit of news!

I sat down with Dave White of CBC Radio North this week to discuss my upcoming move to The Yukon…it’s all about following your dreams and the art that will come out of that odyssey.

Here is a link to the interview…

I am so excited to see what this life change does to my paintings. Thanks for your interest and support in my work. I will update this page again soon.
Have a great day!

There are certain paintings that you produce that hold a special place in your heart…that make you very happy. This is one of my favourite paintings. The colours in shadow were such fun to render.

A true labor of love. I painted the leather belt that Christopher McCandless carved, chronicling his adventures from 1990-1992. This painting took me over 100 hours. I purchased a 2 x 4 from Home Depot for $2.60. I think Chris would have appreciated that :)

Christopher McCandless Exhibition

I have completed a series of paintings based on the life and travels of Christopher McCandless, subject of Jon Krakauer’s book “Into The Wild” and Sean Penn’s feature film by the same name.

Back To The Wild is a book and DVD based on Chris’ photographs and writings. I was a part of the team that helped to create this book and DVD. Please have a look at Back The Wild here. Mr. Hal Holbrook, Wayne Westerberg and Jan Burres all helped in the narration of the DVD.

Many of these paintings have sold already but there are some still available. I hope you enjoy viewing these paintings. The remaining paintings are available at Abbozzo Gallery should you wish to see them in person.

I thank Walt and Billie McCandless for allowing me to use Christopher’s photographs as the inspiration behind these paintings. Please visit Chris’s Purpose: The Christopher Johnson Memorial Foundation here.
