There has been quite a bit online writing about my swimming portraits lately. I am very thankful that these pieces have resonated with people as much as they have.
Temperatures are dropping here in Whitehorse but I am painting up a storm and keeping the studio fires burning!

Hello friends and art patrons!
As I settle into my new home in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory I wanted to update you on some art news.
My painting “Chiaroscuro Cat” will be auctioned off at an upcoming fundraiser organized by PAWS/LA, an organization based in Los Angeles which works to connect companion animals with whose who need them most. The auction is on October 20th in Los Angeles. You can find out more information here: http://www.pawsla.org/pet-art-2013/ I am thrilled to be a part of this event again and love knowing my art will go to help those in need.
Another painting is involved in an upcoming auction. This one is in Burlington, Ontario and funds raised will go to the Joseph Brant Memorial Foundation. “At Greenspond”, oil on panel, 24″x12″ will be up for auction on December 11th at the Royal Botanical Gardens. The auction is part of a holiday/Christmas gala. This painting was inspired by my travels in Newfoundland. The ocean, the wind, the incredible freshness of that place will be forever in my memory.
I have been berry picking and making jam up here in Whitehorse. There are so many ideas for paintings I don’t know where to start! New works are always able to be seen at Abbozzo Gallery in Toronto, Ontario.
I hope your weekend is wonderful!
Good news art lovers! My portrait “Lucy” recently sold, and a new painting is on its way to Abbozzo Gallery this weekend!
“I Will Not Jettison My Dreams”, oil on canvas, 48″x24″ is the last painting I am completing before heading north to The Yukon Territory to paint. Please message me with any questions and of course you may contact Abbozzo Gallery as well.

I have written a poem and painted it onto the figure in my painting “Mayberry Street, Hidden”. I wanted to capture a bit of the sensations of that morning, and see what would happen if I applied it directly to the painting. Here is a detail from the painting. You can see the entire painting at Abbozzo Gallery.
I hope you are well and perhaps see you Wednesday at the gallery!
I am excited to announce that “Gayle, Snowshoeing” will be included in an upcoming 2014 calendar by “Canadian Artists For The Poor”, a charitable fundraiser. Money raised from calendar sales goes to help fight extreme poverty around the world. You can find out more information here. Calendars are $20 each. Every bit makes a difference!
I hope you are well. Here is an exciting bit of news!
I sat down with Dave White of CBC Radio North this week to discuss my upcoming move to The Yukon…it’s all about following your dreams and the art that will come out of that odyssey.

My miniature painting “The Guest Room” will be available to the highest bidder on October 18th, 2012 at The Big Picture Gala held at the Mississauga Convention Centre. Good things come on small canvases 😉

“The Guest Room”, oil on panel, 4″x5″.
I don’t normally post paintings in progress but I am so excited about this piece that I had to. It is a juggernaut: 72″x48″! I am painting it on its side in my studio as it is so large that I cannot paint it vertically. I love a good challenge. You can see the finished piece at my solo exhibition at Abbozzo Gallery this coming November. Thanks for your interest and enjoy the sneak peek!
