This painting is all about Laura’s grandfather’s drafting chair…I had to figure out how to incorporate Laura, and imply their connection, in the piece.

“Father, Hospital”

One of my favourite paintings I have ever produced. I tried to capture my father’s vulnerability yet strength at the same time.

as if they were not familiar.”~Percy Bysshe Shelley

“I roamed the countryside searching for answers to things I did not understand. Whythunder last longer than that which causes it, and why immediately on its creation the lightning becomes visible to the eye while thunder requires time to travel.”~Leonardo de Vinci

“Sonnets From The Labrador” and other great news…

Hello art lovers! Here is a quick update with two events of note.

An article was published in a Delaware magazine recently about a collector of my paintings. It is a terrific article which mentions my artwork, along with many paintings being seen in photographs of Patti Hurd’s beautiful home. Here is a link to the article. Enjoy!

The other exciting news is that my painting “David’s Studio, Sunset” is featured on the cover of a new poetry e-book titled “Sonnets From The Labrador” by well-respected poet Samuel Peralta. This book is a collection of poetry inspired by the beautiful artwork of David Blackwood. “Sonnets From The Labrador” e-book will be available via Amazon for the kindle and for download. Here is what the cover looks like, and I have provided a link to Samuel’s blog as well. You can see it here: http://semaphore1.blogspot.ca/

Finally, I will not be posting any more new paintings until my show in November…surprise is a good thing!!! I would like to wait and have the unveiling of the works at the exhibition…but I will post them as soon as the show goes up..until then, thanks for your patience!

Thanks for reading and hope this update finds you in great health!
